At TrailWalker Books, fiction is where imagination meets craftsmanship we champion stories that walk the line between the intimate and the universal—narratives rooted in place, character, and the quiet revelations of everyday life. From debut voices to seasoned storytellers, our fiction invites readers to slow down, listen closely, and rediscover their sense of wonder.
Each title reflects our belief that literature should linger—like the last light through the trees--a sentence staying with you long after the final page.

FAMILY MATTERS
by David Kranes
In Family Matters, David Kranes crafts a lyrical and deeply human portrait of Hunt—a painter, father, and husband—caught between art and obligation. His search for meaning leads him from the deserts of Tucson to the museums of Europe, tracing the delicate balance between creation and connection. With prose as precise as brushstrokes, Kranes explores how the heart reconciles family, ambition, and the endless pursuit of beauty.

Fremont’s Farewell is a two-act, one-person play centered on Ronald Fremont, an unconventional English teacher at an elite Long Island private school.
Critical Praise:
  • “If you put the teacher-student relationship, the Western literary canon and a descent into madness into a blender … you’d have something close to ‘Fremont’s Farewell’… a two-act play … a blend of contrarianism, philosophical riffing, and madness.”- 27 East
Industry Presentations:
The live taping at LTV Studios in Wainscott on Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at 6:30 p.m.. The actor Gerard Doyle starred as Fremont, at the Arts Center at Duck Creek in Springs, and at the John Jermain  Memorial Library in Sag Harbor.
